A Few Questions with Nick

A Few Questions with Nick
When did you first get started or interested in programming?

When I graduated and started working in small marketing firms as an intern, I had a marketing background, but always liked the more technical side of work. I liked computers growing up and never started working on computers until I began my career. I went from being in marketing to a media planner to a media analyst to software developer.

What’s one project that you’ve worked on that you’re most proud of?

I’ve worked on many small projects but the one that I’m most proud of is that I helped rewrite a company’s ERP system in under a year. We took the company’s current ERP system that was from 1999 and turned it into a modern version hosted in the cloud.

How do you stay up to date with the latest programming and industry news?

I read a ton of websites and blogs and builds a bunch of projects in my own free time. I also do some open-source contributions and personal projects.

Do you have any difficulty in breaking away from work after your workday has completed?

No, I find it rather easy because I work at the same desk as I play video games. So all I have to do is switch a few cords over, which acts like an “off-switch” for me at the end of the day.

What kind of hobbies and interests do you have, outside of work?

I love gardening, kite boarding, wakeboarding, and long boarding, and naturally gaming. I also enjoy cooking Italian food, specifically pasta sauces. I cannot buy store bought pasta sauce as it has too much sugar in it!

Tagline: I keep it really boring and just goes by my name.
