A Few Questions About Sourav

When did you first get started or interested in programming?

When I was in high school, I was pretty good at math. I really liked solving problems in math, however, I only liked solving them once and not repeating the work over and over again. So I thought “what if I could do the work once and then have the computer do the work over and over again?” So that is how I initially got into coding.

What’s one project that you’ve worked on that you’re most proud of

I worked for a client that needed a trading platform that has to do with trading stock. I worked on the project for about a year and it successfully launched in 2022.

What’s in your DNA that moved you to get into the tech / coding space?

The fact that our industry changes a lot and you cannot just have one skill in your bag, there is so much in the tech industry that not one person can know it all. I have to continuously learn in order to stay relevant. There are always new challenges that I have to overcome and solve so staying relevant and motivated to learn helps.

How do you stay up to date with the latest programming and industry news?

I use a subscription service called TLDR and this platform sends an email every morning that takes about 10-15 minutes to read. I like to read this article first thing in the morning as it starts my day off right and it keeps me up to date with industry news.

Do you have any difficulty in breaking away from work after your workday has completed?

No,  my work is more hybrid so I’m onsite somedays which helps. I also enjoy hobbies that I do outside of work so that helps separate the two and create a work/life balance.

When it comes to icebreakers, what’s your go-to approach?

I talk about my cats a lot. I have two cats. They have two very different personalities. One loves to be pet and can be held like a baby, the other is on his own terms.

Are you a Mac or PC person?

I am more of a PC person. I love my iPhone but I’ve never owned a Mac.

What kind of hobbies and interests do you have, outside of work?

I love to play pool and I spend a lot of time doing this. I play in a lot of tournaments throughout the twin cities. I also ride motorcycles (I own two) and photography is another hobby of mine.

Tagline: Been there, done that.
