Delivering articles and real-time stock performance data for Barron’s iOS application
“ILM’s developer is the best iOS architect and software engineer I have ever seen. He takes ownership of his work and his projects as if he was a highly motivated employee. He is always honest and shows nothing but integrity in his work with us.” —Armistral, Scaled Scrum & Agile Delivery Leader, Dow Jones
Barron’s is a financial publication produced by Dow Jones. Barron’s offers access to real-time aggregated stock performance data and financial news articles within their iOS app. The company worked with an offshore firm to initially develop the iOS application. The offshore firm successfully delivered the app with a short turn-around time, but the app had several bugs and needed ongoing improvements to increase revenue and augment the value to their subscriber base.
Barron’s contracted with ILM for one developer to maintain and update the app. ILM’s developer was the only dedicated developer working on the entire iOS application, including both iPad and iPhone versions.
The Barron’s iOS app has 96,000 monthly active users. During the 9-month placement, ILM’s developer fixed numerous bugs, changed the app’s core navigation, and designed a custom notifications system. In total, six versions of the app were released during the nine-month placement. ILM’s developer responded to customer feedback about program issues through the application and the iOS App Store. ILM’s developer also worked with designers to redesign the interface to increase access to Barron’s magazine content.
